Pocketbike Racing highlights Pinoy Bike Brothers/1Card Global launch in Taguig

pocketbike2.JPGOn May 27, motorsport enthusiasts out there should watch out for the launch of Pinoy Bike Brothers/1Card Global at the Taguig Civic Center in Fort Bonifacio . Pocketbike racing, fast-gaining popularity in the local circuit — will be one of the highlights of the PBB/1Card Global launch and will feature kids and adults alike.

Pocketbike racing, also known as Minimoto or Mini GP racing, is a category of racing where miniature racing motorcycles (known as pocketbikes or minimoto) are raced around kart tracks. It is a popular sport in Japan and Europe and is gaining in popularity in other parts of the world including in the Philippines. Racing these “little monsters” is readily embraced by local motorsports aficionados.

The PBB/1Card Global event will start at 7 a.m. with a motorcade from the Ynares Gym in Antipolo City. Registration will follow at the Taguig City Civic Center.

Taguig Mayor Freddie Tinga, Taguig area manager 4 Peewee Vasquez and a PBB 1CG representative will be gracing the ribbon-cutting ceremony set at 10 a.m.

The University of the Philippines women’s softball team won back to back championship titles in the 15-day National Championship of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines.

A few weeks ago, UP also won the National Open Championships then the lady maroons captured the National Collegiate Open, beating tough University of Santo Tomas.

“UP’s victory is a victory for everyone who participated because it showed how serious practice and strong detrmination can make a real difference in how we play and winning in the process”, Jean Henri Lhuillier said, head of this annual softball event.

Adamson’s Cloiene Muyco was named Most Valuable Player.

Rudy Fulo bags FVR Cup at Eagle Ridge

golf21.JPGRudy Fulo copped the overall title in the 9th FVR-RPDEV Cup at the Aoki Course of the Eagle Ridge Gold and Country Club over the weekend. Meanwhile, Lino Magpantay took the low gross plum.

Rudy Fulo netted a 68 under the Systems 36 format of scoring while Lino Magpantay had a gross of 75 as they captured the top awards in the 18-hole event participated in by 85 guests of former Pres. Fidel V. Ramos.

Division champions were Paul Ching, Nonong Raymundo, Freddie Puno and Beth Menchavez. Special prizes went to Arthur Tugade for the longest drive, Vir Camilo for the most accurate drive and Jason Lim for the nearest pin shot of the day.
