Beach Volleyball

The 2007 Petron ladies beach volleyball tournament opens today at the Rajah Sulaiman Park in Baywalk. A mock-up sand court was built especially for the staging of the second leg of the beach volleyball tournament.

Since the launching of the Petron ladies beach volleyball tournament four years ago at
Island Cove in Kawit, Cavite, a lot of volley belles have been discovered and are now doing good in the national team. This year, the same goal is expected by organizer Tisha Abundo.

“We are searching for new champions that fans can look up too” Abundo said.

Anyway, the two-day, two-tandem, competition will eventually produce a champion that earns a slot in the Petron beach volleyball grand finals at season’s end. Good luck girls!

Car Touring Heats Up

The 2007 Philippine Touring Car Championship Series will kick-off tomorrow at the Subic International Raceway. Expect a lot of excitement in the event as the chase for the Group 1 Super Saloon title is expected to tighten. Jody Coseteng, the reigning title holder will be challenge by young aces. It’s an exciting race to watch.

Expected to shine in the event are teeners Uly Maningding of Explorer Motorsports, Nico Montinola of Akula racing and Renan Morales of Dickies-Shift. Asian Formula Three driver Gaby dela Merced will also hit up the event as she makes her comeback in touring car after clinching the Group 1 Class B crown three years ago.

Beat the heat with Bowling

The coolest sport in town, bowling, will hold it’s 9th Tenpin Bowler’s Association of Makati (TBAM) Fiesta Classic today until April 23 at Powerbowl Powerplant Mall in Makati City.

The annual bowlfest is expected to draw participants from various national bowling associations, bowling champions, and bowling enthususiasts.

The 9th TBAM Fiesta Classic is presented by Prima Pasta, Amstar, Rockwell Center, and Power bowl among others.
