Two Filipino triathletes – a veteran and a beginner – are among the hundreds of athletes from around the world who will be competing in the 2006 Desaru Pengerang International Long Distance and Sprint Triathlon in Desaru, Malaysia this weekend.
Joseph “Joey” RaƱa, the more experienced of the two Filipinos, will pit his skills against 550 other entries in the long distance event on Saturday while newcomer Rene Gozum will try to outdo 180 others in the sprint event of the three-phase (swimming, bicycling and running) contest on Sunday.
