After missing the Zhuhai rounds of the Asian Formula Three Series, former Asian karting queen Michele Bumgarner will again show off her driving skills in the next six rounds on September 19 to 23 at the Sentul International Circuit in Bogor, Indonesia.
Bumgarner became the first female driver to post a win in the series when she won the promotions class on her debut at the Batangas Racing Circuit in May. She returns to drive for Team Goddard and will renew her rivalry with another lady driver, Gaby de la Merced.
“In Batangas she made an extremely impressive debut. She had the speed but she had problems with her starts. I am sure her starting technique will not be a problem this time so we expect her to win again,” said Team Goddard principal Mark Goddard of Bumgarner.
She failed to compete at the Zhuhai track in Guangdong, China, owing to her commitment with the Italian Karting Championship.
Bumgarner has 32 points in the promotions class, way behind runaway leader Satrio Hermanto of R&W Team Indonesia Joson F3 and even de la Merced, who is running third overall. But she is expected to go all-out and prove her mettle in a more powerful machine.
